Mold Testing Services
Mold testing helps confirm what the eye can’t see — identifying the type of mold present, spore levels, and overall indoor air quality. At UMP, we provide professional testing using accredited laboratories with results delivered in 24–48 hours, followed by a free report walkthrough and recommended next steps.
Our goal is clarity — no speculation, no upselling, just accurate data so you can make informed decisions for your home and health.
Inspection vs Testing — What’s the Difference?
Mold Inspection
A physical assessment of the property to locate moisture, visible mold, or sources of mold growth. Inspections rely on visual assessment, building science knowledge, thermal imaging, and moisture detection tools.
Mold Testing
Testing analyzes spores, species, and concentrations through lab samples. Even if mold isn’t visible, testing reveals what’s present in the air or on surfaces. Testing is recommended when:
You suspect mold but can't see it
You need documentation for landlords or insurance
You’re experiencing allergies or odors
You want post-remediation verification
You’re buying or selling a property
Most inspections can include testing, but testing provides laboratory-confirmed evidence.
Types of Mold Testing We Offer
Air Samples
Air sampling detects microscopic airborne mold spores and evaluates indoor mold levels relative to an outdoor control sample. This determines whether the air inside is normal, elevated, or contaminated.
Surface Samples
Used to confirm visible mold-like growth. Samples are collected by swab, tape lift, or bulk material, allowing precise species identification.
Wall Cavity Samples
A minimally invasive test that draws air from inside wall or ceiling cavities, ideal for detecting hidden mold behind drywall, under flooring, or in damp building materials.
Dust Samples
Dust often contains historical spore activity. Dust testing can indicate past contamination, current spore load, or post-remediation clearance conditions.
